Tiebreak

Affiliate disclosure

How Tiebreak makes money, and the hard rule that keeps it from bending a comparison. Last updated September 2026.

The short version

Some of the links on Tiebreak are affiliate links. If you open an account with an exchange after following one, we may earn a commission at no extra cost to you. That is how the site pays for itself. It does not change which exchange wins a scorecard, and it does not buy anyone a place on a page.

Every affiliate link on the site points to a /go/ address on our own domain, which then redirects to the exchange. We do this so all partner links are disclosed, consistent and easy to audit — you can see exactly where a button goes. Affiliate links are marked with a sponsored, no-follow relationship, and a short disclosure sits next to each sign-up button, not just here.

The rule that matters: a payout never moves a result

We score each matchup on seven objective axes before we think about who pays. The proof is that we regularly hand rows, and sometimes whole matchups, to exchanges that pay us nothing — Bitstamp is the clearest example: it runs no consumer affiliate programme, and where it is the honest pick we say so and say plainly that it earns us zero. A partner exchange gets exactly the same scorecard treatment as a non-partner, including the criticisms.

Some large exchanges cannot lawfully be promoted to readers in the US, UK or EU — for example Binance, KuCoin and Bitget, under rules such as the UK's financial-promotions regime and the EU's MiCA framework, and US restrictions that in KuCoin's case run to at least 2027. People still search for honest comparisons involving them, so we write those matchups nominatively and truthfully — but we deliberately place no sign-up or affiliate link on the restricted side. We link only the compliant exchange, or neither. This is a firm editorial and compliance line, not a case-by-case judgement.

Not advice, and not affiliated

Tiebreak is an independent publisher. We are not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by any exchange we compare; brand names appear only to identify and compare the services. Nothing on the site is financial, tax or legal advice, and no link is a recommendation to invest. Crypto is volatile and you can lose all of your capital — only ever commit money you can afford to lose, and check current terms and eligibility in your country before you sign up to anything.
